What that means for your routine (and why):

• Hydrate, then seal. In desert air, humectants (like hyaluronic acid) can pull water out of the skin if used alone. Apply on damp skin, then lock it in with ceramides or squalane to cut transepidermal water loss.
• Go gentle on cleansing and exfoliation. Hard water and foamy surfactants strip the barrier. Use a low-lather cleanser, limit acids to 2–3 nights weekly, and consider azelaic acid for redness-prone skin.
